Faculty Adviser: Applicants are encouraged to acquaint themselves with the current work of the Department and the academic interests of the faculty members. To the extent possible, they are encouraged to contact a faculty member who could be a future adviser to discuss their work in the Department. The consent of a faculty member to work with candidates is a prerequisite of their admission to the Ph.D. program. After they are admitted, students are free to change their adviser if they so desire.
