Specialties/Research Interests: The development of Indonesian language and literature in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; Varieties of Malay/Indonesian; Contemporary Indonesian literature; Second language acquisition and pedagogy, the development of materials for teaching of Indonesian language.
 
Current Projects: The development of materials for the teaching of oral proficiency and grammatical accuracy in Indonesian (book format); The development of listening comprehension lessons for the students of intermediate level Indonesian (Cd-Rom format); The development of Malay drama in the Netherlands Indies in the 1920s.
