Specialties/Research Interests: Sociology of contemporary India; scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and backward classes in India; conflict and conflict management in South Asia; education and economic changes in South Asia; Gandhi and post-Gandhian movements; women's movements in South Asia.
 
Current Projects: Class, caste, ethnic, and gender inequalities in South Asia.
